Using the next room
This was one of those days when I realized that things could not continue.
I arrived just in time to the national headquarters of a major political party, one of the very large. I spent the metal detector, identified myself and got to race the four steps leading into the press room. I crossed a couple of room and came to the comfortable sofas from which journalists continue the hearings. I saw my colleagues busy taking notes, but something really strange happened ...
The respondent was not there. His image came to us through a luxury plasma TV, while he gave her speech in an adjacent room. A room full of party people, I suppose, served the function of extras. The press office had found the ultimate solution for journalists to ask a question we could not even shout. The leader of this important political formation could not, literally, not see us.
